Sharp, Pulling Pain In Abdomen After Hysterectomy And Removal Of Left Ovary By Abdominal Incision. History Of 5 Bowel Resection Surgries. Adhesions?

Hi- i had a hysterectomy and left ovary removed three weeks ago. Many years ago, i had 5 bowel resection surgeries due to Crohn's. so my surgeon opted for an abdominal incision, in order to have a better view and to avoid running into adhesions. So i would like to know if it is common for hysterectomy patients to have adhesions? I have very sharp and puling pains and i thinkmthat it could be that.

Kindly advise

Hello,
Thanks for using health care magic for posting your query.
The adhesions your doctor was suggesting is from the previous 5 reesection surgeries that you have had earlier. This time he took an abdominal incision so that he doesnt get into adhesions that were present form the previous surgeries and if at all he does, he can have a clear view.
Adhesions after hysterectomy is possible and no body can predict that. Some stabbing pain after hysterectomy is very common and most of these pains settle down after 2-3 weeks. If it still persists, you should get a USG repeated.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
