Shingles. Symptoms Of Pain Even After Taking Hydrocodone, Oxycodone And Muscle Relaxers. Is There Anything I Can Do?

I am experiencing Shingles for the first time. I am a 61 year old woman. I looked into getting the shingles shot a couple of years ago but thought I needed to wait till Iwas 60, then forgot about it. I started having symptoms on the 26th of October and am still having a lot of pain even though I take hydrocodone, oxycodone, and a muscle relaxer. I took an antiviral which didn't help since I was over 72 hours out from the onset of the rash. I just still have a lot of different pain break through and just want to know if there is anything else I can do or take to help.

Hello Dear!
thank you for asking. Shingles are self resolving issues and unnecessary self medication be of more harm than good. As you are 61 years and at this age treatment needs to be given so here is what i suggest and you should take.

You need Conservative therapy which includes nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs); wet dressings with 5% aluminum acetate (Burow solution), applied for 30-60 minutes 4-6 times daily; and lotions (such as calamine).

If necessary you can use short term prednisolones 40 mg all in the morning for a week and then alternate days for next week and then twice in a week and then once in a week and then stop. Use morning times.

But you need mot to worry about. It will resolve.

You can try some anti depressants if it bothers you . Doxepin would be a better option.

Take care
