Shooting Pain With Burning In Left Side Of Body. On Lantus, NoverlinR, Trama Dol HCL Etc For Pain. Side Effects?
I Have been having pain in my left side since the middle of july it sometimes is shooting pains and it hurts for clothes to touch it,it also burns like if it was sunburned.I take lantus, and noverlinR ,also amitiptylin 50mg,sertraline50mg and Trama-Dol-HCL50mg for pain.Could it be any of these medicines causing the pain?
This pain is neurological in nature and is due to Diabetic neuropathy. In long standing diabetes peripheral nerves are damaged due to persistent hyperglycemia. Consult your doctor and request for a nerve conduction study to arrive at a diagnosis. Medicines like Gabapentin may help in reducing the pain.
I advice you have proper Diabetic follow up and check your blood sugar regularly. Please check your renal function and eye for any nephropathy and retinopathy respectively.
But this Shooting pain and burning in one side of the body may be the sign of stroke or compression of nerves in spinal cord. Also consult a Neurologist and do further investigations like CT and MRI if necessary.
Hope this Helps. Take care.
Regards, Dr.Manjeth.
