Should B12 Supplements Be Taken With Citalopram For Anxiety?
I have low energy most of the day- always want a nap. Most time I crash around 1 pm need nap-throughout to evening. Currently on 30 mg of citalopram, helps very much with anxiety GAD with very little side effects, ie sexual disfuction, appetite, etc. Should I supplement with b12, energy packets or ??? or should I change meds when it seems to work well or ??
Citalopram is SSRI is in high doses in some people it is known to cause sexual dysfunction. In various studies in patients of depression and anxiety the levels of Vitamin B12 are found to be deficient. So as per my opinion supplementation with B12 will help in potentiating the recovery. There is no need to change medicines and supplementation will help in improvement. If sexual dysfunction become severe then you can discuss with your psychiatrist for augmentation drugs like Bupropion along with conventional treatment. The drug doesnt cause sexual side effects and will help in recovery. Supplements containing Omega 3 Fatty Acids are also useful in depression.
Thanks, hope this helps you.
