Should I Be Alarmed About The Findings In The Chest X-ray For Mitral Valve Prolapse?

Dear doctor,
I am an OR nurse for 4 years now, was a floor nurse for 2 years before that. Annually, we are subjected for an Chest Xray. I was dignosed to have Mitral Valve Prolapse on Aug 2012, on Atenolol 25mg/tab PRN.
On Jan 4, 2014, as routine, I took an Xray and the findings are as follows:
"There is a minimal pleural thickening both apices, stable."
Last Jan 8, 2013, they found the same findings. Though it says "stable", should I be alarmed? How and where do you think I got this pleural thickening?
Thank you very much!

Hi,

I have gone through your query.
There is pleural thickening localised at the apex of both the lungs. As it mentioned Stable, there is nothing to do with it.
The most probable cause of it in your case is past bacterial infection. During infection there was inflammation of the pleura which resulted in thickening. This is usually reversible but formation of scar makes it irreversible.
