3 episodes of left sided spontaneous pneumothorax( lung function test - normal onset and clearance of all thre episodes confirmed with Xrays. no breathlessness or mediastinal shift. what is available treatment and prognosis?
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Recurrent pneumothorax is seen most commonly with cystic lung diseases. So better to get done HRCT thorax. HRCT is needed because chest x ray and lung functions can be normal in many cases. Pleurodesis is the treatment of choice for recurrent pneumothorax. In this, two pleural layers are made to adhere to each others by talc. So there will no potential so ace in the future for pneumothorax to develop. So consult pulmonologist and get done HRCT thorax and Pleurodesis. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
