Should I Be Concerned About The Child Having Hurt The Head With A Huge Indent And Not Having Any Tiredness Or Nausea?
Hi My 6 year old ran uphill into a lamppost 4 weeks ago and got a huge bump. The school dr put ice on it and said to watch for nausea or tiredness none of which appeared. Now this evening I just sang a song to her and 10 minutes later she came up to me and asked me to sing a song, not remembering I just sang it. On her forehead she also has an indent where she hit and it hurts if I touch it. Could this be much worse than the school dr thought?
Hi ! Good morning. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
Possibly your school doctor was right in advising so 4 weeks back. However, in the present scenario, your child is grown up enough to forget the song sung to her few minutes back which might not be acceptable. Even though it could mean nothing, in case I were your doctor, I would advise you to have a CT scan/MRI of head for your child to be surely rule out any post traumatic pathology developing gradually in her head. Further management would depend on the report.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts. Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
