Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Should I Be Concerned About The Rapidly Increasing And Decreasing Heart Rate During Random Activities?
Randomly as I have been doing random activities throughout the day my heart rate will pick up dramatically and double it's rate. It will remain that way for 30 seconds to a minute and then the next beat will be twice as slow. It doesn't gradually slows down it dramatically reduces speed after one beat. Why is it doing this? Should I be concerned?
Hi, You may be experiencing paroxysmal tachycardias. This is when the heart will unexpectedly beat unusually fast. This is a treatable condition and I suggest you see a cardiologist. It is often investigated by a 24 hour tape monitor of your heart and an echo. Regards, Dr K A Pottinger, MBChB FRCA
