Should I Be Concerned For The Core Biopsy Of The Breast And Retrieval Of Micro Calcifications?

Hi, I had a core biopsy performed yesterday at my request instead of waiting 6 months. There were 6-7 microcalcifications that were extremely tiny, deep and lateral on the left breast. The radiologist wasn't sure he would get them, luckily he said he was able to retrieve all of them. I am so scared what pathology will find. My sister died of breast cancer at the age of 37. I have had gene testing and am negative for the mutant gene. Should I be worried out of my mind and if it is bad news is it very early??? help!!!

Hello,

Microcalcifications are not a definite sign of breast cancer. As there is no definite lump, possibilities of a breast cancer is very unlikely. We can wait for the biopsy report to plan further treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
