Should I Be Extra Careful About Preterm Labor Before My Scheduled C Section.
Complete placenta previa. 33.5 weeks in. Heavy bleed at 31 weeks. Was in hospital bed rest for a week. Been home since then. Now for a week. Everytime I use the bathroom I notice a thick brown stringy mucus. Size of dimes or quarters. Is this my mucus plug. Dies it mean I should be extra careful about preterm labor before my scheduled c section.
I understand your concern. The stringy mucus may be the mucus plug. But in placenta previa with heavy bleed, mucus plug may or may not be present as the blood expels it out earlier during episodes of bleed. But it is wise to be extra cautious as you are already 33.5. The delivery after 34 weeks is safer for the baby but the later the better. So if you are able to make 1-2 weeks more it will be an advantage for the baby. Ask your doctor for uterine relaxant drugs if you are having contractions. Take absolute bed rest, no work, no prolonged standing or sitting and have help at hand in case of bleeding.
Hope this satisfies your query.
