Should I Be Worried About Hard Tender Veins In The IV Infusion Site?

Age 45, female. Have fibroids and hysterectomy next month. Had hemoglobin 6.2. Had 3 units blood and 2 IV iron infusions. I had severe pain in IV site along vein on 3rd unit blood and on 2nd iron infusion. Now I have hard veins along those sites with some tenderness. been about four days s/p IV. Should I be worried about the veins?

Dear I read facts of your query and reviewed it in context to your health issues submitted in your query.
I understood your health concerns and feel Concerned about them.

Based on the facts of your query the reply of your query is-
Your current health issues seem to be due to -Thrombophlebitis from Iron transfusion.
You need to Consult Physician and treat it with- script for following-
Tab -Voltaren-Anti-inflammatory- orally
Thrombophobe ointment locally.
There is not risk of embolic phenomenon as the veins are not muscular.
Rest and Elevation of the infusion arms
This would resolve the complaints of your's.
This would resolve in 3-6 weeks time if treated as above.
Just don't worry and be patient and co-operate with your doctors,till you verify with your attending doctors.
For early recovery-please follow above do's which would resolve your complex health issues.
