Should I Be Worried For The Swelling And Pain Caused By Injecting IV On My Right Hand?
I had an iv put in my right hand five days ago. When I got home the next day it was very swollen and now I have a vein about an inch to the left of it that is protruding and very painfull to touch.should I be worried? My hand is still swollen so is my right foot.
Yes, you should be a little worried. Usually iv injection does not cause serious complications. But as the vein is injured with every injection, it may lead to vein inflammation and even thrombosis. Thrombosis in the arm can be very dangerous, that is why you should not ignore your symptoms. Please visit your doctor. Dopplers ultrasound should be done.
Hope this will help. Regards.
