Should I Go To A Chiropractor For Headaches, Dizziness And Throbbing Temples?

I have been having a headache for the past month. I noticed that the headache had started after being on the computer for long periods of time combined with a bad neck posture. I have been to an ENT, an optician and a neurologist and all of them told me it was due to anxiety and the neurologist specified that it is a tension headache. I have also done blood analysis that came back good. I don t feel that much pain but I can feel my head being heavy most of the time and I sometimes feel a bit dizzy. I can also feel arteries on both of my temples throbbing. What should I do next? Go to a chiropractor? I don t know please help me. I am 18 years old 176cm and weigh 72kg.

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

I read your question carefully and understand your concern.

You should know that tension type headache is mainly caused by daily physical and emotional stress.

A wrong position of the neck contributes in aggravating this type of headache.

What types of blood lab tests have you performed? Did they include inflammation tests (PCR, sedimentation rate)? These tests are important to exclude possible temporal arteritis (which could be relate to the throbbing headache).

I recommend performing a lot of physical activity and recreational sports (walking, gym, tennis, etc).

Yoga and meditation would be very helpful in this situation.

I would also advise to correct your standing position, and perform physical exercise to help you reinforce your back muscles, which help maintain a correct body position during the day.

If your headaches continue, even after making these changes, i recommend discussing with your neurologist the possibility of starting an antidepressant, which help relieve anxiety and tension type headache.

Hope to have been helpful!

Greetings!

Dr. Aida Quka
