Should I See The Doctor If The Child Is Coughing Sporadically Even After Taking Antibiotics For Strep?

My 4 years old is coughing sporadically and it sounds like there is something in his chest. He just finished with antibiotics but for strep. He has been having this cough for the past 3 or 4 days. He is playing just fine and no fever or any other symptoms. Should I take him back to the doctor or wait out? Also he has swim class. Should I let him go like normal? I notice he doesn't cough while he is in class.

Hello. Thank you for your question. In the absence of any other symptoms, I don't think a visit to the doctor is warranted at this point. As long as your son seems otherwise well, you can let him go about his business. I wouldn't hesitate to let him go swimming. Let him go and enjoy. If anything were to change, ie: fever, fatigue, etc..., you should consult your doctor.
