Should I Take Lipikind To Control Cholesterol Levels?

Hello Dr. Samuel,

For last 2 years , suffering from High Triglycerides issue and infact noticed becsasue of white spot over my eye lid. and subsequent visit to doctors confirmed high colestrol level. Although I tried to control my diet ( to be frank not too strict control ). Few months back my doctor advised me on mediciation to reduce high triglyceride level ( around 400 )

Medicine suggested - Lipikind 10. Although I did take it for month or so but then I suffered from boils and I stopped taking Lipkind.

Yesterday , I again got my blood tested for Lipids and results were as follows :

Total Lipids - 938

Total Cholestrol - 258

HDL - 31

LDL - 142

Triglycerides - 422

VLDL - 84

Although during these 3 to 4 months I have not taken any medicine but levels are more or less constant and in fact decreasing.

I want hyou to suggest if I should start Lipikind again and what other measures to control these levels?

Considering your lipid profile, you have to continue with lipikind tablet probably throughout your life to minimize the chances of getting heart attack and pancreatitis another serious disease. Further you have to be on strict diet control. Avoid fatty foods and take plenty of vegetables and fruits. You must also exercise regularly daily( brisk walk at least for 45 minutes). If there is no much decrease in cholestrol level after 2 months, you have to increase the dose of lipikind to 20-40mg.
