Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yes, please help me.....I have just been diagnosed with OCD personality disorder and the dr. put me on 25 mg of Lexapro.....then it was increased to 50mg. now I cannot get an erection or maintain one. it is very embarrassing and I need someone to suggest something to take along with it (since the Lexapro IS working to reduce my anxieties, and mellowing me out for a better functioning social and work interaction). should I take viagra?
Lexapro consist of Escitalopram, a selective serotonine reuptake Inhibitor. Erectile dysfunction is one of the common side effect associated with lexapro, specially when given in higher dose. You should consult your treating physician for same and ask for alternative medication for OCD.
Viagra can be helpful. As in your case erectile dysfunction is secondary to adverse effect to medicine, changing the medicine will be better alternative.
