Hello and thanks for using HCM,
I am Dr Nilajkumar a consultant gynecologist and I will be helping you in your queries.

You have a negative blood group. The problem of taking an injection comes if your husbands blood group is positive. If the mother is negative and father positive, there is a chance that the baby may be positive. In this case the babies positive cells provoke the mothers cells to act against it. Usually nothing happens in the first pregnancy but in future pregnancies, any baby with a positive blood group is attacked by the mothers sensitive cells and suffers from anemia. The injection protects this from happening and must be taken by any negative mother whose husband is positive after every abortion and after delivery of a positive baby within 72 hours.

Please check if you have received this is the first pregnancy. From your query it appears that you have not received the injection. The injection cannot be taken now.

In the next pregnancy, you will need to check status of your immune system by doing the Indirect coombs test. The injection may be needed at any time depending upon the tests result or after delivery.

Thanks for using HCM.
Have a good day.
