I am a breast cancer patient.I have undergone radical mastectomy with T2 N-0 M-0.Now my endometrine echo is 8.Pap smear test is normal. Should I undergo a hysterectomy? If yes How soon? Can I go in for a Laproscopy?I don't have access to my credit card at present. Will ask you later Thank you Syeda
Hi, I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns. I wish you had given me some more details like your age, whether you have regular periods, etc. I am answering it presuming you have attained menopause. Endometrial echo of 8 mm is not a normal finding in postmenopausal woman. So first it is necessary to do a endometrial biopsy (a very minor out patient procedure) for histopathology study. Based on its result you need to be treated. Endometrial thickness itself is not an indication for hysterectomy.
God forbidden, if histopathology report suggests that you need hysterectomy, you can have laparoscopic hysterectomy. It needs to be done at the earliest. I hope this is helpful. If you have further concerns, do write to me. I will be happy to answer.
