Should Oxycodone And Xanax Be Taken Together For Muscle Spasms?

I take about 120 Mg of oxycodone for pain a day. I m having trouble sleeping, and I m getting some muscle spasms in my back as well. I was given xanax 1 mg. I don t like mixing prescriptions, but will taking the 120 mg of oxycodone, which i ve been taking for years now, and 1 mg of xanax be too much?

Hi,

These medications should not be taken together. Taking Xanax together with Oxycodone may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, difficulty concentrating, impairment in thinking, judgement, and motor coordination which may result in falls and injuries. Therefore, you should avoid taking these medications together at the same time. You can take Oxycodone in the morning and Xanax at bed time.

Hope this will help you in getting rid off sleep disturbance and muscle spasms. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
