Should Tetanus Injection Be Taken For Speedy Recovery Of Injured Ankle?
Sir, before last 10 days, as a result of sleeping of bike on road, I had an injury to my right leg near ankle.. I took Enzoflam, however, doctor said it is not deep and hence, not requires Tetanus injection. Now, the injury is healing but not speedily... my anxiety is whether now the injection can be taken ?
Hi, Thanks for writing to HCM. Tetanus toxoid injection is taken for immunizing against tetanus infections. It works by helping the body build up its immune system against tetanus. It needs to be taken when any external injury comes in contact with dirt, rusted materials or in deep seated injuries. It does not help in speedy recovery of injuries. What could have caused delay in wound healing of yours is: 1. Possibility of mild infection causing slow granulation tissue formation. 2. Mobility of the joint. Kindly take care of these things and your injury should heal more quickly. Hope the information provided would be useful. All the best.
