Should A Doctor Be Consulted For Severe Lower Backache?

I'm a 62 year old, pretty healthy male. For the last few months, with no change in diet or exercise, I began experiencing severe back pain that at times radiates around my hips as well. It's very hard to stand up straight. Just normal aging or should I get checked out by a doctor?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I have read the details and in my opinion you have a slipped disc or sacroiliitis.
I suggest you start pain killers and if they do not give you relief then go for X-rays and orthopedic consultation.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
