Should A Gangrenous Thumb Be Surgically Removed?

my uncle known diabetic, has a gangrene in left foot thumb entire thumb has become black. A week earlier; entire foot was blackish red and ulcer on thumb, with the antibiotic entire foot has become normal in appearance except thumb. Is that portion will mummified ? or has to surgically removed?

Hi, I had gone through your query and understood your concerns.

Usually in such conditions, Higher antibiotic are tried and even then if its not cured, most probably that should be removed after discussing this with your treating doctor and surgeon. What ever to be done is to be done fast. Don't delay.
