Should A Gynecologist Be Consulted For Prolonged Menstrual Bleeding?

Hi, I’m 54 and just started having irregular periods. This time I’ve been bleeding for 3 weeks, and 2 weeks ago found a large cyst in my breast (which has since reduced in size and discomfort). Should I see my internist, GYN or just wait it out?

Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this-

1)Do a physical examination by your Gynecologist

2)Do check your TSH and do one ultrasound to rule out if any secondary present behind your prolonged periods.

3)Discuss with your Doctor about [Oral progesterone]to correct hormonal imbalance and [Tranexamic acid]to control bleeding.

4)Add a multivitamin and iron caps every day at bedtime.

Take few preventive measures like this-

1)Get plenty of rest. If you become unusually tired, nervous, or constipated, you may be more likely to experience menstrual pain.

2)Make a plan to do exercise regularly such as walking, swimming, or bicycling may improve blood flow and ease menstrual pain.

3)Try to eat a diet rich in whole grains and green leafy vegetables and
drink plenty of fluids.

Hope that helps
