hi,
thank-you for providing the brief history of you.
As you mentioned you have arthirits and it's severe now I will advice you to understand first what is OA knee and what it does, how it happens and how to get rid of it.
The first step is to get the orthopedic assessment done and a physcial therapist will help you with a detailed history. Later, take an
MRI of the knee joint to expose the underlying soft tissues. Now, once we know the status of the knee the next plan needed is to undergo the pain management and later on the vigorous exercise to get the maximum torque in muscle. Now maximum strength in muscle is needed irrespective of undergoing surgery or not. As if you undergo surgery without any optimum strength then the surgery can be failure and the pain will also persist later on.
Also, the cases I have been seeing with severe OA who were asked for surgery we have never undergone any surgery. And with physcial therapy we have 100% success rate. Patience lesds to success and that's what we God with effort.
Also ,
knee replacement is advised to people who cannot bear the pain and cannot perform exercises. But the sad part is later on the pain persists and there is only one choice is of medication.
As now you know that physcial therapist can help you avoid surgery and get the maximum strength in the knee muscles i am sure you will get 100% success with out surgery.
