Should A Laparascopic Hysterectomy Needs To Be Carried Out For Enlarged Uterus?

I have seven children, had 3 miscarriages. Aged 41, and have been on estrogen/ progresterone HRT for the past 6 months. My gynecologist noticed my uterus was enlarged - which was found previously on an earlier xray, then followed up by an ultrasound. My primary care doc wasn;t concerned - but my gynecologist says my uterus is hypertrophied, and would recommend a laparascopic hysterectomy. She equates the size of my uterus to a 12 week pregnancy. My question is this - could the HRT be causing the uterus to be enlarged, and if so - would going off the HRT shrink the uterus back down to size, or is it more a case of age, previous pregnancies, etc?
