Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter was just bitten by a dog when she was riding her bike. It did not break the skin, but it looks like there is some sort of bruising or collection of blood just under the skin. We know where the dog lives. Do we need to go ask the owners if their dog is vaccinated?
hi. i have gone through your question and understand your concern. Dog bites transmit Rabies disease which can be very risky even if there is no open wound. you said there is some bruising on the skin so i would definitely suggest you to ask the owners of the dog whether it is vaccinated or not. If the dog is vaccinated, please confirm the history of vaccination whether it has been given a potent vaccine, minimum of two doses in the last two years. however vaccinated dogs can also transmit Rabies if their vaccination is ineffective for any reason. hence I would suggest you to consult a physician and get your vaccinated with ANTI-RABIES VACCINE as early as possible. hope my answer helped. thank you.
