What Are The Chances Of Rabies Transmission Form An Infected Person?
One of my relative died of Rabies on Nov-12-2011.Six months before she got a dog bite from a stray dog . She got vaccinated but had only 2 doses. She showed the symptoms of rabies last week and died within 4 days from the initial symptom. My concern is that she has handled our infant child(5 moths old boy) 20 days before her initial symptom and a couple of times earlier, after the dog bite. I'm scared about my baby's health now. Should i get him vaccinated with ARV?

Human to human transmission is extremely rare.Even then,it will not result from manual contact.It will need introduction of patients saliva to a wound or mucosa.And it is already around 3 years past(the usual incubation period is 1-2 months.ARV is indicated in category 3 bites only(deep wound or mucosal exposure).Otherwise,we advice IDRV.
In my opinion,you need not worry,and need not be vaccinated unless he is at risk of animal bites.
