Should A Specialist Be Consulted For Shoulder Hematoma And Finger Tingling?

My son has a hematoma between his shoulder blades from weight lifting (bar on his back) and his fingers sometimes tingle when he holds his arm out, or drives for a long distance.

He has stopped lifting weights until the tingling sensation goes away as well as the hematoma.

Should we seek a professional opinion?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,
Some body builders get these problems of altered sensations due to muscle build up and pressure on the nerves coursing from the neck towards the hands.
It is called as Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.
You can get a XRay of the Cervical spine done to rule out a Cervical rib which can also put pressure on the nerves.
Get yourself evaluated by your GP or a Vascular Surgeon who can rule out the above condition.
Take care,
You can contact me directly by leaving a Direct or a Specialist query.
