Should A Spot On Blood In Ear After Injury Be Source Of Worry In A Child?
I was using an otoscope to look inside my 3 year olds ear. Our doctor said it might be helpful to clean her ears at home. We have been having trouble with ear wax build up for a while now & my daughter will not let the doctor come near her with anything for her ears since she hurt her at a previous visit! As I was doing so, she jumped. After which she screamed out in pain. Upon further investigating after calming her down I observed a small spot of blood where the injury occured! I cannot tell if it was her ear drum or just the ear canal that was scratched. Should I take her to the er to make sure? Or just wait & see the doctor tomorrow? She is already on antibiotics for a "sinus infection.
Hi, Otoscope examination by your self is not advisable as, if with doctor injury is likely then it is natural to have injury in ear by you. Nothing to worry, there might be having injury in ear canal is more likely. And as she is on antibiotic, nothing to worry about infection. Consult your doctor tomorrow and get her examined. Ok and take care.
