Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Should Booster Dose Of Shots Be Given To Prevent Measles Infection?
Currently there is an outbreak of measles in Ethiopia. I now live in Ethiopia and have two children, one is 1.5 years and the second is 5 years old. The 5 year old was born in NYC and has completed his vaccination in the US. The 1.5 years old had a measles shot at 9 months old. My questions are: 1) Is there anything to worry about for the 5 year old? 2) for the 1.5years old, should he get his second (boost) shot? Please advise. Thank you.
Hi Dear
Wewlcome to the HCM.
YES.
Booster doses can be given.
For the 5 year old Instead of Only Measles combined MMR will be better.
For the 1.5 year MMR is due and should be given.
MMR contains measles Mumps and rubella.
Hope the query is answered.
thanks
