Should Drastic Increase In Blood Sugar Level After Cortisone Shot Be Considered Normal?

My mother in law is a diabetic but only takes medicine not insulting. She had a cortizone shot today which makes her sugars go crazy . It went up over 500 but after her medicine it s now down to 380. Should she be alarmed or as long as it continues to go down should she be ok? She lives alone and I m nervous!

Hello and thank you fo asking HCM,

I studied your question and must inform you that elevated blood sugar is the most common rection after cortisone shot in diabetics.
If she has the possibility to check her sugar level at home and if the sugar level is going down, then there is no problem. But in the case her sugar level stays high, then visit your GP to increase the medication she is taking.

I hope this answer was helpful to you.
