Should I Be Worried About Low Pulse Rate After Taking Medicine?

I was perscribed atenolol 50 mg once daily at bedtime. I have high blood pressure and heart palpitations from time to time with skipped beats. My Dr. believes it is mital valve prolapse and is setting up an echo test to confirm the diagnosis. I took the medicine for the first time last night and it has lowered my blood pressure to to 114/73 and my pulse is between 51-58 sometimes gets in the low 60's. I talked with the Dr. on call, and he said not to worry that pulse rate was what they were "aiming for". I on the other hand am concerened that it will go too low when I'm asleep. I also have a cool like feeling on my back and at times in my chest.

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
I really appreciate your concern one thing should be taken in mind that taking the reading of pulse and blood pressure with own does not give exact reading and this reading are not authentic, blood pressure should be read with calibrated machine the authentic instrument is Hg column sphygmomanometer, always go for clinical examination and let the doctor examine you, any way here nothing to worry about the history given here, everything is alright, hope this information helps you, have a nice day.
