Should I Continue Taking Medicine If I Have A Family History Of Diabetes?

Hi I am a 53 year old female weighing 58.4kg, height 5ft 4inches. I have been prescribed metformin 250mg bd as Ihave a family history of diabetes. My HbA1c result done every three onths is between 6.1 and 6.4. Should I continue taking the medicine as I am very careful with my diet and do yoga and walk everyday.

Dear sir

As per your query, you must continue taking the prescribed medicines as adviced.

Because metformin is adviced even for earlier stages of prediabetes, so that the progression of diabetes will become slow along with the optimal control of blood sugars.

Thirdly continue all physical activity and yoga as adviced. Monitor glycated hemoglobin levels.

Thanks
