Should I Meet Doctor For Cough, Sore Throat And Fever Of A 6 Year Old?
My 6 year old son (54 lbs.) had a cough x 4 days, fever (101.7) x 2 days, sore throat, and fatigue, and loss of appetite; now the fever is 99.4, sore throat and his tongue has turned a thick coating of gray . He has no rashes, and had a tonsilectomy in March 2011. Does he need to see urgent care tonight?
The reasons for this presentation can be streptococcal infection, diphtheria or candidiasis. Since diphtheria is a serious problem which needs early treatment, so it needs to be checked by clinical examination and throat swab.
I would recommend you to visit a pediatrician immediately for this.
Hopefully this will help you. Take care
