Should I Start Antibiotics For Fever, Cough And Breathing Problems Of My Child?

Hi doctor;
My five year daughter is having cough from Monday which is not dry also..congestion type cough.yesterday night onwards she is having fever and I am giving her paracetamol syrup...While sleeping whole night she was having slight difficulty in breathing also...fever is still there..I started giving her cough syrup Monday itself...now should I start with any antibiotics or asthalin?

Hi,
Fever/breathing difficulty can be seen in common cold too-this gets controlled within a span of 5 -7 days,when it is just viral/ allergic ( with symptomatic treatment) & not bacterial.
Antbiotics are indicated in case-
-There is no relief within 5-7 days of arise/ symptoms agrevate..
- the cough is productive /yellow/green.
- there is high grade fever,
You should consult a doctor for need of antibiotics/type & dose of antibiotic
for, child's health is delicate & can take serious turn in no time.
