Hi,

Insulin is recommended. Based on the history your blood glucose did not seem to be controlled with sugar control pills hence insulin should be taken. Its common side effects include hypoglycemia which is more likely to occur if you do not take meals after taking insulin, unusual physical activities, or an increased insulin dose.

It can also cause atrophy or hypertrophy of subcutaneous fatty tissue due to repeated injection at the same site. It is not a habit forming drug but to control your blood glucose and HbA1c you need to take it on regular basis as prescribed.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
