I am 50 years old and was just diagnoised last wed with type 2 diabetes, I was visiting my son in Kansas and the doctor there put me on 500mg of meteformin until I get back home to see a doctor but they can't see me unti Feb 10th but my blood sugar hasn't been under controlled yet this morning it is 279 and my blood pressure is 101/62 with pulse of 100. I was wondering should I be alarmed.

Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear sir

Blood pressure and heart rate are always inversely proportional, it means when ever there is increase in the heart rate, blood pressure decreases.

Secondly it is essenstial to control heart rate below 80 beats per min at resting state because it increases the blood pressure and decreases the risk of heart attacks, giving adequate time for heart muscles to relax.

so adviced to change over the current medicines to cardioselective beta blockers as per the advice of your physician.

thanks
