Should Inflammation Of Elbow After An Injury While Suffering From Bursitis Cause Worry?

I have had bursitis in my elbow on and off for about 2 years. During a flare up about 1 year ago I bought a cushioning sleeve. 3 days ago my elbow started swelling and hurting, so I resumed using the sleeve. Then last night, when taking off the sleeve, I noticed some dried discharge. When I looked at my elbow in the mirror, it was leaking puss from a spot near the old injury. It turns out it was not bursitis but a giant pimple that I burst. It feels better but is red and slightly inflamed today. Should I be worried about this?

hi.. it's necessary to know whether the pus is coming from superficial(skin or soft tissue infection ) or the tissues beneath.. when pus comes out, usually the pain and other symptoms resolve or subside. note whether it has association of fever with it's onset. still 7 days course of antibiotics should be followed to eradicate infection. take care.
