Should Person Suffering With Shingles Avoid Public Places?

I have been diagnosed (today) with Shingles and have begun treatment with Zovirax and Prednisone. My question: Should I avoid being in public places, especially my church? I am music director and really need to be there. Thank you for answering--I didn t think of asking my Doctor.

Hello
Thank you for asking the question.
Shingles is reactivation of chicken pox by herpes zoster virus. Virus survives in our ganglion and activated any time whenever immunity goes down. It forms blister over nerve supply and later on rash developed.
Treatment is acyclovir. Treatment is started to you. But avoid public contact because blister contains live virus which can be transmitted to person who comes in contact with you.
Once blister is dry then contact doctor and after doctor's advice go for public contact. Until that time avoid public contact.
Hope this will helpful to you.
