Should Rinsing Of Mouth Be Stopped After The Extraction Of Tooth?

hi, i had my first molar (upper-right side) extracted Friday morning. I have been using mouthwash (scope and cepacol) following the first 24hrs, diluted to start and now straight from the bottle. My GF told me to stop cause it could STILL dry out the clot!! I hate the taste of the saline water and have been using the mouthwash after every rinse. Should i stop? thanks

Hello and welcome to HCM forum,
I would like to inform you that using a mouth wash 24 hrs following extraction is good as it has antimicrobial action which enhances healing.
I would also like to advise you not to overuse the mouth wash as it can cause dryness of mouth and sometimes stain teeth too.
Kindly follow the instructions given by your dentist and follow up after a week.
I hope this answer was helpful.
I wish you good health
Take care.

Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
You can continue rinsing with mouth wash, but do not rinse too vigorously. After 24 hours of extraction the clot will get stabilised then nothing to worry, you can sticke back to normal rinsing.
I hope my answer will help you, take care.
