Should Sex Be Completely Avoided While Suffering With Chronic Urethritis?
Hi Dr, I ve been diagnosed with chronic urethritis. It is non gonnacal according to my urologist. I ve been feeling symptoms for a year now on and off but mostly on. I too see a shrinkage and swelling up sometimes in my testicles but never the less I ve been taking doxycycline for 6 months and honestly it hasn t really done anything. My Dr says to slow down on sex for a while minimum of 1 month if I can go more the better but to be honest I hadn t tried more than 6 days. I started taking D Manoose, bee pollen, saw poletto. Do you think it s the right thing to do? Also if I m erect but don t ejaculate is it still fine to do so in foreplay or do I need to stay completely free from my private area and my girlfriends also? I m very desperate and it s making me depressed because all tests come back negative and it s been a while. I m having all kinds of unhealthy thoughts and I just want to be normal again and be able to live my life which I appreciate but this past year has been tough because of my symptoms. I m 29 years old. Even my parents worry about me and I just need your advise. Whatever you said is right on point because that s what my dr said. I just want to know how to just be free of this already.
The management of non gonococcal urethritis is of multiple step approach as follows: - Repeated urine culture over consecutive 3 days on sterile midstream early morning urine, one of which is preferably after prostate massage - Evaluation of urethra for any narrowing or stricture formation through ascending urethrography or diagnostic cystoscopy - So far as sex abstinence is concerned, it is greatly appreciated to avoid intercourse, but yes you can do masturbation once a week. Making penis hard and not to ejaculate will worsen the issue by back up of prostatic secretions and semen inside the urinary system rather than helping. - Control of blood sugar is very vital
