Should The Plavix Dosage Be Halved?

I am 82; 5 3 , 130#; in good health I thought. MRI showed a small stroke had occurred; I did not have any symptoms. MRI because of headache and dizziness. Put on Plavix, taken off 81 mg aspirin. I would like to cut it in half. Is this at all wise.

Hello and welcome to HealthcareMagic.

I read your question carefully but I don't see you mentioning any reason to cut Plavix in half, is it causing any particular side effect.
Plavix has the same action as aspirin. I guess it was given to you instead of aspirin because it offers a slightly (only just) superior protection from stroke.
Now, that protection has been studied for a certain dose, usually 75mg, so half the dose may not offer the same protection and be inferior to aspirin actually. So halving the dose without any particular reason does not sound wise to me.

I hope to have been of help.
