Should The Patients Have Their Creatinine Level Checked After 48 Hours Or Next Day After Angiogram ?
After having an angiogram in an outpatient center, we have the pt. wait 48 hours until they resume metformin. Our doctors also order a creatinine level to be drawn before resuming medication. When should the pts. have their creatinine level checked? The next day or 48 hours later?
In case of angiogram, the creatinine should be checked after 48 hours of the dye. This is done to look for "contrast nephropathy" or to see if the dye has had any adverse effect on the kidney.
Hope this helps Good luck
