Should you take Tylenol and Aspirin @ the same time for pain My (39 year old) son just came back from the dentist . he was complaining of pain and said : I ll take Tylenol and Aspirin. His wife asked me if he could do that. I said : no . He did it anyway. I don t know how much he took of each. I m upset because after 40 years in the medical field (RN-Midwife) he still knows it better. I always think : start @ a low dosage and if that doesn t help take more. I told him to rather take Ibuprofen or Advil , but I was talking to the choir or better to a wall. Please advise me. Thanx, Rita

There is nothing wrong with the combination. While Tylenol is only a mild analgesic, and more of an anti pyretic, aspirin is a good analgesic. However, newer NSAIDs (Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) are available too, which are apparently better. Also, aspirine should always be combined with ranatidine or any other PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitor), at it has a tendency to cause acid peptic disease.
