Shoulder Displaced, Swelling After An Accident. Surgery Suggested. Any Other Option Available?
i had aan ccident four day ago . i was on my biike an my shoulder hit the doors of the car. that time when i got the report it showed that it was all normal the doctor also said that u r normal and nothing had t happened its only a swelling that had happened it will be alright in few days.. but i still have pain in my shoulder. so today i went to another hospital and there i got to now that my shoulder bone has been displaced and the doctor told me that it needs a surgery in which a screw will be fitted in it so that it comes to the place. is there any other option other then the surgry?????
From the given description, I assume that you suffered a fracture of Greater tuberosity of humerus (which may be missed in initial xray as it will not show up in all xray views).
Generally, if the fracture fragment is displaced, it needs fixation by screws. If it is undisplaced, it may be managed conservatively by shoulder immobilization for 4 weeks followed by gradual physiotherapy exercises to improve the range of motion in the shoulder joint.
A direct clinical examination and xray views are necessary to make a treatment decision.
hi thanks for your question. based on my experience surgery is best option because your recovery is guaranteed there conservative methods like continuous traction but these methods are out dated and you take long to recover. Hope I answered your question, will be happy to help you if you have more queries.
