Sinus Scan Done. What Does Findings Mean?

My sinus scan says the following: "interval postsurgical changes follwoing bilateral uncinectomies, maxillary antrostomies, and partial ethmoidectomies. Ethmoid: mucosal thinking involving bilateral ethmoid air cells Sphenoid; mucosal thickening invovling the left sphenoid sinus. Maxillary: polypoid mucosal thickening involving left greater than right maxillary sinuses, likely with left maxillary sinus mucus retention cyst

From the information provided, you have had surgical treatment for previous sinusitis and currently have findings suggestive of an infection in the maxillary sinus. This is more pronounced on the left than the right. You should correlate these findings with the symptoms that you are having.

Sinusitis is classically treated with antibiotics. However, these findings make the success of this option bleak and make surgical intervention a worthwhile procedure to consider.
