Skin Around Lips Inflamed, Red, Swollen, Cracked. Had Apple By Biting. Should I Take Benadryl?

I always eat apples by cutting them up in slices, but a couple days ago I didn't have a knife so I ate it by biting into it. Now my lips and the skin all around are inflamed, red, swollen, cracked. My tongue and throat are fine, its just around my mouth. This has never happened before, but I usually never eat apples without cutting them up first. I've been using Vaseline lip therapy, should I take Benadryl?

Hello. What you have is simply a labial skin inflammation result of acid apple you ate.
A corticosteroid local aplicattion each twelve hours(low potency corticosteroid)will resolve the inflammation.Only if inflammation is not resolved after apply local corticosteroid 5-7 days or if you have very itchy now,"Benadryl"or another oral antihistamine would be necessary.
I wish you good health.
