Small Child, Legs Get Tired Very Quickly, Unable To Stand Up. Treatment?
Hi , my son is 3yrs old, he s been to see our gp on a few occasions about his legs, they get tired very quickly, then become tired, and sometimes he can t stand up for sitting down , it takes a few attempts till he can manage it , I m getting concerned as he was due to see a paediatrician next week but the paediatrician has canceled and said he needs to see a neurologists as soon as possible
Your child requires examination and further investigations.
Does he stand up on holding up only or by taking the support of his own body?
Does he have any problem breathing?
Does he have any other associated complaints?
Does any body in the family have such problems?
Is the problem worsening with time?
Since how long is he having such a problem?
Please reply in detail.

Hi,
I think the pediatrician is right ,your child needs to be assessed by the neurologist because this is related to the regression of motor milestones at present .There could be many reasons for him behaving like this Muscle myopathy /myositis,spinal muscle atrophy ,muscle dystrophy ,neuropathies or some metabolic disorder. So you see it is very complex and neurologist would thoroughly examine and run investigation to rule them out.
Bye
Take Care.
