Small Child, Lump On Right Calf, Red Or Skin Colored, Not Hard. Treatment?
My daughter just turned one. She has had a lump on the back of her right calf since she was only a few months old. Some weeks the lump is really red other weeks it is the color of her skin. Every time I go to my doc the lump is the color of her skin. At her 1 year old appt her doc said that since the lump wasn t colorful and hard she wasn t worried. Now the lump is red again. Should I take her back to the doc?
From your description, your daughter seems to have what is medically called a hemangioma. This needs to be confirmed and i can do that if it is possible for you to post a picture of the lump. Has the size been the same or is it growing proportionately with her growth or has it been growing fast. The changes in colour are actually a good indicator that it may be getting better. Most of these do get better by the time the child is 3 years old. Please post a picture and i will be able to help you further.
