Small Child, Stomach Infection, Severe Pain. Taking De-worming Medication. Cure?
Hello doctor, My daughter is 3yrs old. Almost once in a month, during the nights she cries that insect is biting and suffers a lot till about 3 am in the morning. We happen to take care of her hand hygiene , but she still gets frequent infestations. We are very much worried about her health. Every time we go to our pediatrician he gives deworming medicine. We suspect if this is worms problem or if she has any other trouble in her anus . Pls help :(. Also want to know if eating chocolates would cause worms in kids.
Hi
Thank you for your query
Chocolates don't cause worms. But yes poor hygiene does. What you describe does look like a colic. But a colic can not only be in the intestine but also other organs. Sometimes it can be related to kidneys or gall bladder also. It will be a good idea to get an ultrasound done. Also note whether the pain co-incides with constipation or hard stools. That too can lead to such symptoms. Consult a pediatric surgeon for your complaints.
Hope that helps
God bless you
Hi
Thanks for your query.
Symptoms of your daughter are suggesting pinworm infestation.
Since you have already given deworming medicine,it should not persist.
I suggest you to give a course of albendazole and repeat it after 15 days.
Maintain proper hygiene, trim her nails regularly.frequent hand washing should be done.wash fruit and vegetable with plenty of water.
Avoid fried and junk foods(chocolates do not cause worm infestation.)
Give her plenty of fluids, salads.green vegetables. She should not be constipated.
